BAPONG YOUTH CENTRE

2013, MAGALIESBURG, NORTHEN PROVINCE
Part of a NGO funded youth centre initiative in a very poor mining community in the North West Province. Affordable gum pole architecture is used to create shaded outdoor gathering areas. The youth centre included an internet cafe, business support centre, canteen, social spaces, and ablutions. Sustainable methods such as organic farming training programmes, solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and compost toilets were proposed. The roof structure allows for future growth of a community hall.
