AFROX DURBAN REGIONAL GAS FACTORY
2015, BALLITO, KWA-ZULU NATAL
The factory site formed part of Tongaat Hulett Eco-Development. Close to Shaka International Airport. The admin, canteen and conference facilities enclose a re-established dune forest that ecologically process the grey water on site, preparing it for industrial processes. The dune forest forms a natural environment that creates relief from the hardened industrial process. The factory sheds use Aramax sheeting that self-span15m. The sheds regulate the harsh sub-tropical climate and open up to the prevailing cool SE winds along with solar shelves and vertical poly-carbonate. Metal tromb walls vent under eaves for passive cooling.
